Why do we keep being nostalgic of the past? Or anxious about the future?

How come it is so difficult to keep our mind present?

How to resist finding loopholes in the past or the future?

When you think about it, living here and now is the only reality and one of the main condition of our well-being and happiness.

DO NOT DWELL ON THE PAST, DO NOT DREAM OF THE FUTURE, CONCENTRATE THE MIND ON THE PRESENT

In 3 simple steps, learn to live in the present moment : here and now

1 – LET GO OF THE PAST
If you make a mistake, learn from it and try again.
Don’t ruminate about the past. The past is over. It only bring regrets.
Just let it go.
Release what no longer serves you.
Letting it go will allow you some space for new adventures, new stories, new beginnings.

2 – ONE BY ONE
Pick one thing to do everyday ne do it with full presence.
It might seems stupid when you read it, but when you live it, you will see.
When you analyze your day, your tasks, your errands, you might realize how your mind is always going everywhere except you are when you are doing something.
To focus on the present moment, focus on what you are doing fully, mindfully and consciously.
Start by picking one thing to do everyday and do it with full presence.
You will notice, you feel more relaxed, more grounded and more efficient.

When things feel overwhelmed, remember:

  • 1 thought at a time
  • 1 task at a time
  • 1 day at a time

3- TAKE RESPONSABILITY
Don’t complain about the past. The past is gone.
Don’t live in the “what if’s” of the future. The future is unknown.
Make good choices from the opportunities presented to you.
Every moment is a new chance for a new beginning.

If you are not happy where you are, here and now, you have different ways to deal with it and be responsible for your life :

  • Remove yourself from the situation
  • Change it
  • Accept it
